Barfield Wilderness Station

Yesterday, Saturday, we traveled to Murfreesboro to do some errands and to visit the Barfield Crescent Park, Wilderness Station.

In the midst of suburban sprawl sits the Barfield Park. It is a large athletic fields facility. There are also picnic shelters, a disc golf course, and the Wilderness Station.

The Wilderness Station is the "nature awareness and outdoor adventure facility." It is the main trailhead for the hiking trails.

We walked all of the trails and logged the information to be used to create a Map and Guide for cloudhiking.com. Overall, we had a great hike in near perfect weather conditions. The facilities were in great shape and the trails were well maintained and litter free. More later...

The Billings Gazette reported two gun related deaths in Montana. One incident occurred when a teen separated from the hunting group and was shot. The other incident was a teen being shot when his sister was unloading her rifle.

I guess gun activists would just shrug these incidents off as being accidents; but in general, don't you think guns claim more than their share of lives.

In Washington a four year old, put a shell into a shotgun and pulled the trigger - shooting his mother. The mom being sprayed with the pellets, was treated and released from the hospital.

I guess gun activists would just shrug these incidents off as being accidents; but in general, don't you think guns claim more than their share of injuries.

In North Dakota a young man was arrested for shooting a urinal. That's right, he took his .45 into a bar, then to the men's room, and the next logical thing that happens is - he shoots the urinal.

I guess gun activists would just shrug these incidents off as being accidents; but in general, don't you think guns claim more than their share of urinals - at least it wasn't a person.
